Testing Mixxx 1.11.0-alpha2 x64 in Linux Mint 12.

Processor : 2x AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+
Memory : 4056MB (1118MB used)
Operating System : Linux Mint 12 Lisa

-Display-
Resolution : 1920x1080 pixels
OpenGL Renderer : GeForce GT 440/PCI/SSE2
X11 Vendor : The X.Org Foundation
Audio Adapter : Audigy2 - SB Audigy 2 Value [SB0400]

Works fine!
Waveform runs smooth without underruns at 30 or 60 fps.
Display waveform with "GLSL filtered" don't work, or at least not show anything. Other options work fine.

The best part of all is that I connect my homemade custom controller via ttymidi and works perfectly!!! In 30 seconds thanks to MIDI "learning wizard" mi controller is configured at 90%.
Now... how "export" learned settings?

Mixxx is incredible, keep it up!

Currently running an Intel® Core™ i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
6g Ram
Novation Launchpad (zestoi's mapping)

I noticed that everytime I press a hotcue on the controller I can not make the track stop (been setting up a HC at the end of the track to get around this for now).
The hotcues seem to work fine using the keyboard/mouse, but it's just a little obnoxious having to hotcue to the end of a track to stop.

Postby ifish » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:02 am

Hi,
I've found a bug?

When i starts the mixxx alpha 2 on an archlinux laptop (x86), it runs fine.

Then i plugged in my numark total control, activated it and the cpu usage wents to 80 - 90 %. I deactivated it, cpu runs normally.

Mmhh.. there is a bug? The stable version haven't those problems.

probably my mapping needs a tweak then, i had intended them to work the same way as the mouse i thought. when the track is playing and you drop a hotcue it shouldn't stop the track. if the track isn't playing and you press a hot cue it should jump to that hotcue and play until you release it.

this is what you mean yep?

it looks like atm in my mapping i'm ignoring the "hotcue release" when you let go of the button. i'll make that change and update. i'll post an updated mapping to my mapping thread today or tomorrow.

edit: emailed you the code change that i think you are after - which is how i meant it to work anyway

Did a show tonight, found a couple of interesting things by accident.

First off, in the "Why didn't I figure this out before" department, playing a request in AutoDJ is a piece of cake! Just locate the requested song in the library, and drag-and-click to the deck that's not currently playing. Bada bing! It will load, it will play next, and the track that was "bumped" will simply load into the other deck as the next song after the request. How hard is that?

But then, I think I uncovered another bug. I wanted to play Party Town by Glenn Frey. I tried to locate the track by searching the word "party." BUT, instead of doing this from the Library, I accidentally did this in the AutoDJ menu. Realizing I made a mistake, I clicked on Library and typed "party" again. I found the song. Then, going back to the AutoDJ queue, only two songs were displayed -- Party Town and another sing that happened to include the word Party. The search box was empty. What happened to the rest of the tracks? I went BACK to the Search box, typed the letter "a", and suddenly a bunch of songs reappeared. I backspaced out, and the entire queue reappeared.

Another item of interest: sometimes I'll play a sound effect or jingle from one of the sample decks. These are located in a menu that I use Browse to access. That sound effect now appears in the library. Should it do this? Will it also do this if I play a sound effect, or track, from a flash drive? I don't want to play a song from a flash drive, remove the drive, then sometime later have someone click on the track and it isn't there. I would rather keep browse items out of the library.

Overall MIXXX has been performing very well for the past several weeks.

On another note, is there some kind of timetable as to when the next version, alpha or otherwise is coming out? The reason, I've got updates to the library, playlists, and crates, and would like to update my friend's computer. If another version of MIXXX is about to be released, I'll wait for that release, then do it all at the same time.

I tried this and could not replicate that behaviour. If you typed the search in AutoDJ, switched to the library and then went back to the AutoDJ it would be expected, to have the AutoDJ-search still active until cleared. What is weird is that in your case the searchbox was empty. Could you have ended the search with the cross on the right anyway - instead of having to type something and delete it again?

Same here: I tried that, too, and the samples I played from Browse did NOT appear in the library...

I tried this and could not replicate that behaviour.

This was on a 32-bit machine using Windows XP. I don't know if it will do it again -- but it threw me back when it happened. The search box was blank and there was no "X", but the songs were gone. It took a few minutes -- I just started picking songs from the library to keep the music going, then it hit me -- try going BACK to the AutoDJ menu and searching for something else. I typed the letter "a", then backspaced. Everything came back.

As for the sound FX and commercials, my desktop remembers everything and puts it all in the library. I just tried it on my laptop, and it's not doing this -- tried both dragging from another menu, and tried the Browse feature. So why does one unit do this and another does not? BOTH are 64 bit, windows 7. On the desktop, the one that remembers, two of the sample decks don't even work. I've had this before; if I ckear the library and set it up from scratch, it generally fixes it. It might fix the browse problem as well.

Hi,

does anybody know why the latest trunk versions (BZR3245, ..46) since May 23rd 2012 are no more available as linux .deb package, but for MAC OS and Windows only?

Would be nice to have the newest alpha to test.
