Simple Hardware question

Hey Mixxxers,

Today I got tonetable for my ipod and was super excited to try to hook it up to my pc. I then realized that the website says I need an audio interface to make it work. I found one that's pretty cheep on amazon( a Behringer UCA202 Audio Interface) and just wanted to know if it would work with Mixxx okay before I spent the money.

The behringer interfaces seem to be pretty popular for mixxx (the price is right, if you know what i mean).
So you want to use timecode on your ipod to control mixxx? good idea.
Actually, come to think of it, your computer should have an input.
Go to sound settings and set the input to stereo input instead of mix in, run an audio cable from your ipod to the input. If your using asio4all, enable it as an input.

Okay, back to trying to hook it up without buying fancy equipment.
I grabbed the a copy of ASIO and switched mixxx to work with that, and after tinkering with it for a bit I came to the conclusion...
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
Right now I have my ipod hooked into my line in jack and that's about it. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, what is your current setup? and what are you trying to do?
So what OS are you using? what kind of comp, what soundcard are you using (built in, other)etc.

So, to use your iPod as a timecode device, grab the timecode soundfile off the serato website and put it on your iPod. Then you will need a 1/8th" to 1/8th" cable to go from your iPod to the comp. Now, timecode only works if it gets a stereo signal. So we need to set up your mic in (unless you have a seperate "line in") to be stereo.
I'll need that info first though.

Well I was looking up all my specs and I found out a neat little tidbit, My audio driver wont let line-in be stereo. So instead of trying to rollback drivers and find the older ones I just ordered the audio interface. Hopefully that will make everything easier. Silly Realtek drivers.

OK, that may be the best option, instead of trying to hack something together.

For future reference, Realtek isnt windows, and the asio4all driver will completley replace it (while you are using it. everything goes back to normal once mixxx is closed)
You may want to try this: (on windows 7 32 bit at least, and i also have the realtek soundcard)
Open the control panel => go to "hardware and sound" => go to "sound" => right click and show disabled and disconnected devices, just so we know what we got => chances are the input is called microphone, open its properties => go to tab "advanced" => look at "default format", is there a 2 channel option? if so, you may be in luck.

then just select it in mixxx using asio4all.
