NEED TO MAKE MASHUP

Postby puggles » Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:19 pm

Hi, I have no idea how to use this software but I don't have enough time to read the manual. Can some of you just guide me threw this? I'm making a mash up of vocals and an instrumental, so the first thing I need to do is sync the bpms. How?

did you look at the program?

"sync" buttons are towoards the top-outer sides (latenight skin 1280x800)

start your beat first.

You should know the bpm of the song the vocals are from. there are sites that tell you this info (google song name bpm)

move the pitch slider of the vocal/acapella track up or down until the bpm value is close to that of the beat playing in the other track.

You'll probably also want to enable keylocking on the vocal track as well.

That's the little lock to the right of the whole track waveform. (not as obvious as the sync buttons)

You might consider using chopping and triggering samples as the songs likely won't mesh well for the entire duration.

You can use beatcleaver or audacity to do that.

You can also use audacity to change the tempo/bpm of an acapella as well so that you don't have to adjust the pitch faders. videos on youtube for that.

I did the sync button but that does something really weird. The slider under the sync button says 0.40, so I changed the other track to 0.40 and it didnt match up at all.

the sync buttons and the sliders will adjust the "speed" or tempo of the song based on the bpm in the top right of the waveform. If this value is incorrect the stretch will be incorrect.

You'd be better off using a different bit of software to mashup your songs.

FL Studio 10.5 beta is out and free until july (not a limited demo. You can save your files)

I recently started dabbling with ableton. primarily because of the drum rack and sample launcher. (16 pad sample launcher that is modeled after an MPC or the like would be a good addition to mixxx btw. that and win vst support. ;P)

Both of those tools are well documented by amatuers and professionals alike. Lots of walk-through vids on youtube.

good luck
