Why does mixxx is so more performant on linux systems?

Postby ifish » Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:03 pm

Hi,
now, i've an old laptop (IBM T43) with windows. I installed the windows version of mixxx and the asio4all driver. Then i tested it, i load a track and i could play it. But loading of the track needs 6 - 9 seconds; then i've the wavform.

After that, i installed archlinux OS at the same laptop. I compiled mixxx with m4u, without shoutcast. I start it, load a track and.. it load in 1 second.. very fast, it need 2 seconds to show the waveform. Perfectly...

Why does mixxx is so much faster using it in an linux environment?

I like it, because i think the sound with alsa is much better than with the original driver in windows.

There was an old bug on this issue and I'm not sure it ever got fixed. But we have a completely new waveform in v1.11 so when that's ready, give it a try and see if it's any better.
