Archlinux x86_64, Kernel 3.3.4, Qt 4.8.1, Mixxx compiled with scons.
No messages in console when freezing occurs. Can unfreeze only with skin change. Sometimes it happens immediately after Mixxx start and waveforms simply don't updates when loading track (still blank), console says that "Waveform generation done 1.xxx s" and i see it in waveform overview.
Same on ALSA, same on JACK with Deere and LateNight skins (others did not check).

UPDATE: Freezes occurs only when i move cursor over tree/contents library separator.

I am trying alpha2 on Win 7 x64, no big problems alltogether and the new waveforms and the new midi-mapping are great! I use direct sound with latency 21, internal sound plus usb-headphones for prelisten and have had no problems so far...

There is a bug I have not found reported here: When I use the frequency-cut buttons (cut low, mid or high) I can not reactivate the frequency; if I hit the button again it stays muted and the knobs don't help either. Just using the knobs without hitting the cut-buttons works fine. I have to restart mixxx to get the frequencies back.

Question: What is the supposed function of the new checkboxes in the BPM-Column?

Another topic:
I understand there are people working on more effects, as a plugin or sth. like that. Is there already sth. that can be tested? I'd really love to have some more FX-options....

What skin are you using?

That's a new bpm-lock feature that lets you lock the BPM from being changed.

We have something in the works and will definitely share alphas/betas here when they're ready.

Changing the Skin solved it; I used a modified Deere from 1.10.0 set to 1600x900 because there is no other skin available in that resolution...

There is one little thing that bugs me about the Deere-Skin: In the Library-Menu a selected item has light gray text with light gray background - not visible... So I edit the xml on any Deere I use to set the text to white...

First of all, a great big thanks to the Mixxx developers!

I waited eagerly, with an old version of Mixxx (1.08?), to get my hands on 1.11, and the return of a sorely-missed function-AutoDJ.

In short, I love it. As some have already mentioned, it can be 'broken' or fooled by the user, but with a bit of common sense, it's rock solid for me and does a great job. The only reservation I have now, compared to the previous set-up, is that it plays across the decks: deck 1 -> deck 2 -> deck 1, etc. Previously Mixxx would play all queued up songs in one deck, freeing the other one for 'previewing' the songs. As far as I can tell, so far after two sessions, putting a song in the non-playing deck, just to preview, won't work as AutoDJ pre-queues both the current and next song, and as a result thinks the next song is already loaded there, and will just play whatever's been left there. This is a bit of a problem, but if as another post suggests, we're about to have previewing directly from the palylist/library, that'll be just great.

The 'new' library is fantastic. I can now scroll through songs even with the keyboard (impossible in the previous incarantion of the library as the up or down arrow would just jump through three or four songs). Searching and filtering is a god-send, since you can't easily bring up a by-album, by -genre or by-artist list of songs, in fact it's so good, it's above and beyond what I could've hoped for.

However, the problem now is lag; when adding one song from the library/palylist/crate/browse view to the AutoDJ queue, the waveforms freeze up for a moment, luckily not the music though. Ok, no biggie, but if selecting more than a few songs, Mixxx effectively freezes up in the process of adding them to AutoDJ. If selecting a sizeable playlist-forget it, you've list Mixxx for half an hour while it does what it does to add the songs to the queue. This one's a problem.

As already mentioned, the beat analyser is foobared- it's just not doing anything.

It would be nice to have totals for the number of minutes:seconds of songs queued up in the AutoDJ, small thing I know, but makes a difference as I have to manually add the songs up to know how much I've got.

Finally, I love the play logs, letting me see what I played in the session, if someone asks what that was you played two tracks ago (as they inevitably do), and to prevent playing doubles.

Thanks, looking forward to the release version!

+1

As for the delay time of adding a large list of songs to the AutoDJ, by all means if this can be fixed let's do it. But I'm of the mindset that one either loads a handful of songs, adding tracks a few at a time as the night progresses, or else dumps the whole playlist into the hopper and lets it play all night unattended. The "dump" would be done ahead of time. Adding a few tracks here and there doesn't hurt anything. A "Remaining time" indication would be beneficial so you know how much time you have -- if you need to use the restroom, grab a snack, take a break, or just determine if you have enough music to last to the end of the show.

I agree with Sachamasry; we're getting there! As I had said elsewhere, I was already using a "purchased" software package that was buggy and giving me problems. Tech support was horrible. This "alpha" version of MIXXX blows that one out of the water! I, and a friend, have both migrated from the other one and are using MIXXX Alpha 2 exclusively now.
