Hercules MP3 e2 stops working on Mixxx (Windows)

Postby DJ Warr » Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:52 am

Alrighty then. Just got a Hercules mp3 e2 in the mail, (extremely late Christmas present as it were), and I'm trying to get it to work with Mixxx. When I plug it in and get everything going (drivers installed, Hercules software running, the default Hercules mp3 e2 scripts/layout/etc selected), everything works extremely well; quite pleased. Unfortunately, it seems to stop functioning altogether; the lights stay on but any input from the controller is not recognized by Mixxx. I -THINK- the problem is caused somewhere in the scripts, or rather a combination of my crappy desktop and the scripts.

I've tried the same thing on my laptop (same Windows 7 x64) and the problem doesn't present itself. I'm reinstalling my drivers on my desktop to see if it resolves the problem.

Hey DJ Warr,

Are you plugging your Hercules into a USB hub on your desktop? If so, try plugging it directly into a USB port (or try a different USB port on your PC). It's possible that there's a subtle MIDI bug going on here though. If you couldn't reproduce the problem on your laptop, what makes you think it's a bug in the MIDI script? If you can figure out any way to reproduce it, you'll be able to dig into the MIDI script and try to find a way to prevent it...

I hope we can figure this out...

Thanks,
Albert

I've been using this same controller for months now with no problems, so I don't think it's a scripting bug.
