Hercules DJ Console MK1 issue still remaing in new kernels?

Postby slaker96 » Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:21 pm

Hi,

I recently aquired a Hercules MK1, and I've been trying to get it working with
Ubuntu 10.04/10.10/11.04. I found a good site that shows the actual quirks.h entry to remove. Ive havent had a chance to check, but is that all that has to be removed from a newer kernel and to make the correct xml mappings? I'm down for recompiling the kernel if thats all it takes to use Mixxx 1.10 in my show.

I also followed the ubuntu community doc regarding the kernel mod install, but i see no midi events coming from the device.

Hey, just wanted to post an update. It actually worked with Ubuntu 10.10.

I did the following in this order:

1. Fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10
2. Installed kernel mod by following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Hercules_DJ_Console
3. Plugged in the DJ Console MK1
3. Installed MIXXX 1.10 from ppa
4. Launched MIXXX and configured Midi Controller for Hercules DJ Console Midi 1
5. Ran Midi Learning Wizard and mapped what I wanted.

MIXXX responds to the control surfaces, more testing this evening.

did you recompile your kernel with removing the usb quirk too?

which version of the mk1 do you have?

there are two versions, one that presents itself as a midi device ( the mac version) and another that works as a hid controller.

i've got a mk1 dj console that i found at the flea market, it works fine under windows, but no luck so far on linux...
i have the hdjmod driver installed, but i didn't recompile my kernel yet. since i'm using a lowlatency kernel not the ununtu standard. and it's a bit more work....
