Can you check the Application Event log (under Administrative tools in the Control Panel) for new events jsut as Mixxx is crashing? Also check the mixxx.log file (see the Troubleshooting page on the Wiki for info on where it's located.) Post the last few lines of it along with any Application events that appear after the crash into a bug report.

I just installed Mixxx due to shortcomings in other software in terms of mp3 icecasting, but I, too, am having this problem with DEP. I attempted to follow the Windows Help file to disable DEP for specific programs, but then when I try to do so it tells me that DEP cannot be disabled for Mixxx. =|

Event log:

Faulting application mixxx.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4ef52d1c, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0ac4bdc0, process id 0x9338, application start time 0x01cd3051f5b338a0.

That's the entirety of the mixxx.log?

What happens if you try to run Mixxx under Windows XP Compatibility Mode? (Right-click the shortcut, click the Compatibility tab, and try changing it to Windows XP.)

That's all that was in there, unless I was going to the wrong log. The exact item specified in the FAQ was not there but that was pretty close.

Switching to Windows XP compat. mode brought no change in result.

Ok, thanks for that info. What video card do you have? Please try downloading the latest driver for it. (Even if you already have the latest driver installed, please try reinstalling it. I've seen this help on nVidia cards in Windows and Linux.)

It's an ATI Radeon X1200 (integrated video), version 8.393.0.0, last updated on 7/13/2007. Looks like there was an update in 2010 that I am now getting ahold of. Will see if anything improves.
