Automatic Calibration Possible?

Postby DJ Majesty » Tue Apr 24, 2012 2:13 pm

First of all I would like to commend the Mixxx Team for creating a great piece of software. I've been playing around with Mixxx (version 1.10) for a few months and find that the most challenging thing is to get the perfect settings for my hardware to work right. I see from the other posts that I'm not alone in that quest.

I am using a PC (2.25Ghz, 2G Ram), ESI Maya 44 USB, 2 Numark TT100 Turntables, Numark M2 Mixer & Serato CV02 Timecodes.

The tracks load and play but the pitch is erratic. One minute it will be fine, the next it will "ghost" and either speed up or slow down. I've tried adjusting the input volume as advised in the manual but it doesn't seem to fix it.

When cuing in the headphone & scratching the sound seems to drop & I'm loosing the cue point. The scratches also come out distorted because of this.

I had the problem of Channel 3 & 4 playing out of one mixer channel....seems like you have to actually play channel 2 (input 3 & 4) for a minute for the output to register...or it fixed itself...more ghosts....lol

Anyhow, there are a handful of common soundcards that are used with Mixxx like the Maya 44, Behringer, Traktor etc. All of my issues and probably most of them on here have to do with the calibration settings in the program. Adjusting latency, soundcard input on the vinyl control screen, modes and other adjustments. I was wondering if there are any plans or patches available like an AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION TOOL for Mixxx. If not any advice (other than trying another program...lol) is appreciated!!

Happy DJing!!

Exactly the same problems here. Speeding up and slowing down for no reason, the wave-form jumping back and forth while I am holding the record in scratches. And here is the weird part: It is worse for Deck B although I loaded the same track and all the settings are the same. Both, hardware and software. My set of needles also is relatively new. I would appreciate a few clues on how to fix this.

have you checked/changed the input volume? I had this problem using my cd player in too. the signal was too loud and mixx couldn't understand it. as soon as i turned down the volume, the problem fixed itself.

Thanks for the responses! I tried playing with the input volume, volumes in ASIO, adjusting the latency...basically everything. It just doesn't seem to stabilize. Most of the other dj programs I have seen have this calibration tool. I really think this is the missing part of MIXXX that would make it work perfectly. Hopefully the support team adds it to the next version.
