Won't import mp3

I am using mixxx on windows os. I try and import mp3 from an itunes folder and it wont import/show mp3 files. It looks like it will just import Winamp playlists(*.pls*.m3u).
Can anyone please help?

this problem seems to appear at Mixxx1.6.0Beta2 but not Mixxx1.5.0 in Windows.

::the waveforms was not display rightly when a mp3 file loaded in player1(2) ,and the song couldn't be played.

is that a bug only in Windows ?

The waveform won't display if your audio device isn't set up properly in the preferences. We try to give an error message, but there's currently a bug where it doesn't always display. Try poking at your audio device settings in the preferences?

I have the same problem, I am unable to use Mixx with Vista on my laptop because there is only an option to import Winamp files and all my files are mp3s. I presume I am using the latest version of Mixxx as I have only very recently downloaded it.

I have looked at the preferences but can't see any way to allow mp3s from here either.

Is this a bug or something to do with Vista that there is a patch for?

two reasons why this could be happening
1. the songs protected under apple's DRM are not read by mixxx
2. windows allows creation of sub-directories with blanks spaces which does not work with mixxx (developed on linux)
solution - create a winamp playlist and then open winamp playlist in a text editor .. correct that bad directory names and then import playlist into mixxx
- you can also look at mixxx log file to see the problem

Hi,

Mixxx will only show files in the library view which are under the folder set as your music library. In 1.6.0-beta* there is a new browse mode which allows you to just browse your filesystem. You can change the music library location in the preferences dialog.

If you ripped your music with iTunes though, there's a reasonable probability it ripped it as aac not mp3. Mixxx is incapable of decoding aac at present.

I see no reason why spaces in the name should cause any problems whatsoever.
