Griffin Powermate on Linux

Postby brendanh » Sun May 25, 2008 4:19 pm

Hey DJs,

I got mixxx 1.6.0beta2 running on my ubuntu 8.04 system. Pretty smooth so far but I'd like to use my Griffin Powermate as a controller. The wiki says it's supported but the powermate boxes are greyed out in the preferences->input devices window. Do I need to build the SVN version for powermate support or is there some hack to get it to work in 1.6.0beta2? Thanks!

Hmmmm, I have a Powermate and did a bunch of work on it a while back, but I totally forget what state I left it in. It should work to some degree. Try checking your permissions on /dev/powermate or something like that, and take a look at the output that Mixxx gives when you run it from a terminal.

The Powermate code is a nice place to start if you want to get started hacking Mixxx.... (src/powermate.cpp and src/powermatelinux.cpp) :)
