Is Mixxx not suitable for you as-is? What would you like to change?

Pegasus - I am not very computer saavy and would like to hire someone to create a custom mixer
with some very basic features. I need this to make some jogging mp3's. Is this something that you
could do for me or could you recommend someone?

So your end goal is to have some MP3 files that are continuous mixes that you can listen to when jogging?

yes my end goal is to have a custom program that needs nothing different from what is available with the open source mixxx platform.
The programs use is to create an mp3 with a "jogging beat" track and an audio track (like a spoken podcast or sermon) that is simple to use.

perhaps it is called a "user interface" .

Imho this can be archived with the regular Mixxx 1.10 user interface.

I would suggest the following and do something useful with some of the saved money afterwards (for example donate to directly support Mixxx development ;) )

  • Make a new playlist "Beats".
  • Add your jogging beat mp3`s to that playlist.
  • Make a new playlist "Podcast".
  • Add your podcast mp3`s to that playlist.
  • Select some tracks from "Beats" and add them to Auto-DJ via right-click menu.
  • Select a track from "Podcast" and add them to a Sampler via right-click menu.
  • Switch to the Auto-DJ and click"Enable Auto DJ". Jogging beats now start playing back continuously.
  • Start playback on the Sampler loaded with the podcast.
  • You can even record your mix (on the menu bar, click “Options->Record Mix")
  • Done
Note :
Samplers are not visible in the user interface by default. Above the VU meters are the optional section expansion buttons. If you click on “SAMPLER” you will enable the control section for interacting with samplers
Also see http://mixxx.org/manual/1.10/chapters/user_interface.html#the-mixer-section

Hope it helps,
jus

JUS - THanks for the reply to my post. I am not technology literate but would like a very simple interface using Mixxx or another open source
platform. I have no skills in this area and cannot write code. I would be happy to pay you or donate. I don't need any editing or other functions. Just a basic platform.

Is there an email that I can send a "mock up" to. I am not good at uploading attachments. i can be reached at jpage2at gmaildotcom.

thanks for your help. jticks
