Switch single vinyl control between decks?

Postby phranky » Fri Aug 12, 2011 2:51 pm

This is my first post, as I haven't found anything about this in the Wiki and the forum.

--> Is it possible to switch or focus the vinyl control between Deck A and B?

As I'm using an audio interface with just one Phono In (stereo), I want to adjust the pitch of Deck B,
while Deck A is playing. After mixing I wanna switch the vinyl control to Deck A and adjust its pitch
on a new song, while Deck B continues playing. Hope you know, what I mean. Is it possible? Thx!

If not:
In my internal DSP mixer I found a way to route the vinyl control signal to several ASIO channels,
so I can send it wether to Deck A or Deck B (or even both). Actually this works...
BUT: If I take away the vinyl control signal from a Deck, it stops playing.
Is there a way to keep a Deck playing, when it looses its vinyl control signal?
Or any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This feature is planned for an upcoming Mixxx release. I'm not sure if 1.10 will have it, but if not, 1.11 definitely will.

Erhm, new at this, but why not use mixxx just for digital and use classic mixing with tech 1210 to do the rest, That is if anyone still uses vinyl. No bpm and stuff, just use ur ears. Have 2 say i have been using mixxx for a short time and so far think it's a great program. Thing is though, i don't use sinc and bpm counters. To me it lacks a certain challenge... greetz

I did it this way several times, too.
But my major problem is: Controlling the pitch via MIDI has too coarse value jumpings due to the MIDI resolution of 128 steps. A fine adjust knob would be extremely useful!

@phranky

Did you try to adjust the permanent pitch/rate sensitivity?
Options > Preferences > Interface > Permanent Pitch/Rate Buttons.
Change from 0.5% to whatever's more pleasing for you.

You could also adjust the Pitch/Rate slider range at the same tab in the preferences.

Yes but pitching with buttons is pretty uncomfortable. And the lowest pitch slider range is still too coarse for 128 midi steps for precise (and fun) workflow.
