Hey guys,

Thanks for working on making the DJ2GO mapping great. Do you guys have a consensus on what the current "best" mapping is for it? I'd love to include it in Mixxx 1.10 (to be released sometime today hopefully).

Thanks,
RJ

Haha, not doubting your abilities at all! I just know how frustrating Paint can be due to its lack of tools.
(And I don't yet have a DJ2GO so I can't help you on the control numbers, sorry. Don't you get anything when you run Mixxx with the --midiDebug command line option?)

Ummm... Here lies the main problem I have with the midi debug I can't seem to run it. I use the logo have used the wiki too try and use the debug but could never get it to work I use a 64bit windows 7home edition with mixxx to the default install path with mixxx 10. Something sorry on my iPod at the moment laptop it turned off

The .log does not seem to help at all as in it gives me 10-20 differ values for the one press of these buttons and there wave forms values in the log so I might have to use the java script to give a single value of sorts

If you do get a dj2go also look at getting a lpd8 with it I like using them together in my next update I will have the mapping I use withe the lpd8 in it as a bundle I 'm thinking on keeping them bundled for now it will be there as a extra and I might do my one minute pics for that too

You a mad man zEr0

In all seriousness I am still trying to figure out those values myself as well. Terribly daunting task. But then again, I am doing it the old fashioned way, one painful midi data value at a time. And as a father (to a four year old) and someone who is gainfully employed (full-time), I have precious little time to sit and geek out with scripting (as much as I would like to).

Numark USA tech support still has not gotten back to me, of course as no surprise. I even used their wording against them "easily re-map with your favorite software... midi compliant..." so on and so forth. I also argued that Virtual DJ was shit because it wouldn't play 24-bit .WAV files (without sounding like playback was monitored through a broken subway station platform PA being filtered through a white noise tone generator). I figured they would be compelled to assist me if their bundled software was flawed and I was angry about a sub-par product. Of course I should have realized that no one gives two shits about six shits when it comes to the consumer. So Numark Tech Support USA... -5 billion points.

zEr0, it would be great if you could map for the Akai LPD8. I am for sure going to buy it now. Not only because it would be a great addition to my DAW and it will allow me to have kind of an MPC feel to my virtual studio, but incorporating it into mixxx will be amazing. what did you map the 8 pads to? It would be great if you mapped some of them to the loop buttons. What did you map the 8 knobs to? The EQ?

By the way, on a side note when talking about Virtual DJ (LE) vs. Mixxx, I found Mixxx (1.10.0 beta build from 12.19.10 at that point in time) more stable with [my] four year old windows laptop. Virtual DJ took up half of my systems resources and crashed almost immediately when I was working with another VST (crashed within 5 minutes). Mixxx out performed Virtual DJ (LE) on the same system (when I tried Mixxx on the same test Mixxx lasted *about* 30 minutes before crashing, and only during a 10 minute track). I was considering using Virtual DJ for my show on the 22nd because I thought with an aging system and a beta product that Virtual DJ -might- be more stable. After one short test, my conclusion was to scrap VDJ, even though the controller wasn't -fully- mapped (followed by the fact that I need a new laptop with more than 2 gigs of ram). Haha on one more side note, I also contacted Virtual DJ a long time ago asking if they had playback support for 24-bit WAVs and they were like “we should… let us know if we don’t.” So yeah to recapitulate my ramblings, Mixxx is awesome, and if you are poor like me... Mixxx + DJ2Go is awesome. Mixxx + Numark DJ2Go + Akai LPD8 = FUCKING AMAZING! >_<.

Anyway, I gotta get to work. Cheers.
