Okay, I downloaded Mixxx about an hour ago and have been trying to figure out why this happens since. When I load a song into one of the channels and play it, the sound stutters and doesn't play at full speed. I've messed with the sound API (used all the choices and they all sound the same), changed the latency (even all the way to 400ms) and shut down all other processes running on my computer (shouldn't affect it anyway). This shouldn't be happening as I am able to run playback out of Acid Pro 6, FL Studio 8 XXL Edition (with the ASIO4All drivers selected and latency at 30ms), Winamp, and WMP all at the same time and not get this kind of error. Here are my specs:
Windows XP SP3
Intel Core2Duo 1.86Ghz CPU (so technically it's 3.74Ghz)
1GB DDR2 RAM
Soundblaster Live! 24-bit edition
nVidia GeForce 8800GT (what reason the faq had for saying my video drivers had anything to do with it, I will never know)
Every driver is updated to the newest version (Creative has stopped support for the Live! series of soundcards) and before I load Mixxx, my CPU load is between 0 - 2% (and that's with ALL my background applications running) but after I load Mixxx the usage jumps to 50% for absolutely no reason. This program should not require this much resources to run as it is a simple mixing program. Hell, even running Acid Pro and FL at the same time only jumps me up to 10% usage, and that's with both of them playing back Multi-Layered songs at the same time.
Please, I really need help with this. I don't have the money for CD Decks right now and I really wanna finish up some sets so I can get a promotional out to some clubs around here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
