Just got back from a car show. I now have 1.11 alpha loaded onto my laptop, and this is actually the first time I've used this version for the "bigtime." I noticed a very interesting phenomenon with a few certain songs. As the song is playing, the waveform screen flashes a lot of slanted lines at random. Very noticeable, but only on a few certain songs. Two songs in particular that did this, Rock and Roll Part II by Gary Glitter, and T.S.O.P. by M.F.S.B. HP laptop, 64 bit, running Windows 7. Did not affect performance, MIXXX ran flawlessly all night, but I noticed these flickering lines on the screen.

If someone has some spare time, maybe he/she could provide a .deb for linux Mint x64

I'd love to test Unix behavior.

Does this kind of bug occurred with a previous version of Mixxx ? I'll try to take a look at that. Can you fill a bug with a screenshot of it ?

I can't seem to reproduce the problem now, and I loaded a bunch of different songs, too. I'm thinking maybe the replaygain numbers were just way off on something I had loaded last time I looked at it. If I can get it to do it again, I'll let you know.

on my atom netbook with intel graphics,

filtered GL shows a white waveform

filtered works perfect. a little bit more flickery that the old waveform but much nicer,

and if i leave it on autodj then the gui crashes, brings up the windows bug reporter, but the music plays on, changes tracks etc.

good work guys! can't wait for a windows beta!

first post to this forum - figured it was time i tried out mixxx and the new waveforms seem like a cool idea. i tend to post a lot on djtt.

had a few funnies tho. couldn't see a download for linux so grabbed the code for lp:~mixxxcontributors/mixxx/waveforme-2.0. had to add -msse to build/mixxx.py but in hindsight presume i could have just defined CCFLAGS=-msse ? also had to copy res/schema.xml to /usr/share/mixxx to get the new version to run. presume i'm also missing something else as in prefs/interface i have the waveforms option but no options actually in there. some file i didn't copy or some env var i need to set to run from the local dir?

waveforms look a lot nicer than in 1.10.0 that i have installed. the odd thing tho is that with two tracks playing mixxx is using about 35% cpu when running version 1.10.0 and 1.11.0 - so no difference at all. the overall waveform is nicely shaded in 1.11.0 but the scrolling waveforms don't look as nice - more "cartoony" at the edges - which isn't like i've seen from the screenshots at the start of this thread.

i'm new to mixxx+bzr+scons tho so could very well have screwed something up. fyi traktor pro running under wine eats about 22% cpu on the same laptop, tho i do have the sample rate set way down as it doesn't seem to like the soundcard in here. i usually use my macbookpro for traktor - will try mixxx on there later tho i think u already have test data from that? i have a late 2011 i5 13" mbp

i'm using ubuntu studio 11.10. no clue on the graphics - get this from lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

cpu is T4400, dual core, 2.2GHz

Hey Ryan,

I recently downloaded both Mixxx 1.10.0 and a trial version of Virtual DJ Home. I definately favor Mixxx. One quick question, thought.
I was looking through the manual and it said that there was an effects bank being worked on for Mixxx. Is this true? If so, what effects? (beatgrid, filter knob, etc...)

I'd be more than happy to be a beta tester. Downloading it right now.

MIXXX currently has very little in the way of FX. They are being worked on as I understand it, but it's down the road. Personally I rarely if ever use FX except in production, so it matters little to me.

effects can be overused - esp with a lot of traktor noob users - but i do love being able to use some when i want to, esp a gater, delay/echo and filter and occasionally the beatmasher/beatslicer effects in traktor. ofc a lot of mixers may well have these effects builtin but i'm relying on my software atm. a lot of the time it may be ok to just route mixxx out via a vst host but it's also very useful to be able to apply to one channel at a time - esp when using effects to build up a track while another is mixing in before dropping out to the new one.
