iTunes purchased music/ interruption

Postby Damo16 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 12:17 pm

Hi all, my first time on this forum

I really love Mixxx, BUT how do I use my iTunes tracks which won't work cos they have some sort of protection so Mixxx flicks them off and moves onto the next track.
AND how can I get Mixxx to work constantly without any interruptions after about 30 mins

Cheers
Everyone

If you hadn't created an MP3 version in iTunes, that could be the problem. Not sure though. I'm very new to using mixxx, so I could be wrong.

Hi there,

Mixxx can't play M4P files due to iTunes DRM. Did these files show up in the main section of your library or just the iTunes section? It may be that we aren't filtering the iTunes section to only tracks that we can play.

Thanks,
RJ

I have had certain digital files act up on me; not a problem with MIXXX but with the track itself. Sometimes it won't play on a computer with Windows XP and Media Player, but plays fine everywhere else. Sometimes the meta tags have some weird stuff in them -- and who knows what meta information is there that I can't see?

For me, the cheap and dirty way to fix problems like this is to go into an audio editing program (I use Sound Forge, but I believe Audacity will let you do this and it's free). Open up the suspect track, open up a "new" file. Go to the track, hit select all, and copy and paste to the new file. Put in whatever meta tags you want, and save it.

Of course all of this is assuming you actually have the track in your possession. Sometimes iTunes, Rhapsody, and other such programs will let you save it to your iPhone or other device; you can listen to it but you can't save or copy it until it's "purchased." There are all sorts of workarounds, not the least of which is the trusty ol' tape recorder, but depending on the track and the intended usage of it this might be a copyright violation. I'm not condoning theft -- check with BMI if in doubt.

I'm having the same problem, but I'm perplexed by the answers here. I am running two copies of Mixx. One on my home desk top running Win7 64 bit and one on my laptop running Win Vista. I have to problems loading my iTunes purchase into mixx and playing them on my desktop, but the same files won't load on my laptop. Could it be I'm missing a mixx plug-in or codecs on my laptop?
