need help uploading files

So i am completly new to using Mixxx 1.6.0 beta2 on windows vista and i have never used any emulator at all. I have been using records for about a couple of years djing and i want to start using digital. now again like i said i have no clue how to use this at all so i am completely green when it comes to use mixxx. i looked at the manaul and everything but the problem i am having is actually importing my music files to mixxx (mp3s). How do i do that? i tried some stuff that was listed in privious forums but they still seam not to work. everytime i try to import music for some reason it cant read my music files and says "no items match your search". what am i doing wrong? i tried messing with the prefrences and messing with the audio output and still nothing. do i need to make my mp3s into a different format or something?

It sounds like you're having a frustrating time. If you go into Mixxx's preferences, look under "Library and Playlists" and you should be able to pick your library directory. Set that to be where ever your MP3 collection is. After you've done that, hit OK and go "Library->Rescan", and it should find your songs. When it's done scanning, it should show a list of your tracks in the big (presumably) empty space...

Does this not work?
