speed change for forward & reverse buttons

Postby imfromthafutur » Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:54 pm

i want to use the midi learning to map the forward and reverse to controller.

once it's mapped, and like to change the speed(amount of muvement) at which the forward and rverse move the track. i'd like to make them move the track less than they currently do.

How do i do this?

The only way to do that is to change the code and build from scratch...FWD and REV are designed to search as fast as possible (currently hard-limited to 300%.) You might like to try the SCS.3m mapping in the 1.8 beta which allows needle dropping using the crossfader strip when holding down the Deck A or B buttons.

Does dragging the mouse on the waveform not work for you?

Might it be possible to have these user-configurable, and/or possibly have two separate speed settings (fast-forward/reverse and slow)?

I'm kind of envisioning something like the two sets of FWD/REV buttons on e.g. a Denon 100, where they one set of buttons for quickly moving around in the track and another for honing in precisely on where you want to drop queue points. It'd be nice to be able to move your position in the track to where you want to set queue points precisely, without having to use the mouse.

Interesting idea. It's certainly possible but not a priority for the core dev team. If you feel like taking a look at the code, search for "fwd" and "back" and you can create new "sfwd" and "sback" ControlObjects as copies of the originals only with slower speeds. Then add new buttons that map to those new COs to the skin you're using. Adding GUI configurability (in the preferences) is the hard part, but not terribly difficult. Hop into our IRC channel for more on that if you get that far.

Also, if you have a MIDI controller with some kind of wheel, that replaces using the mouse to scrub/seek/scratch.
