madjesta had a patch that did get it going at one point... you should track him down and bug him for it.

Hi all,

I have been to the Hercules site today:

http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg ... 1#section1

and the control panel is downloadable, but the kernel module is not. It's listed there as:

Files :

hdjmod-dkms_1.28_all.deb
hdjmod-dkms-1.28-1.noarch.rpm

but the .deb and .rpm lines are no longer links. Are these packages mirrored anywhere?

Cheers!

The link is at the bottom: [Ubuntu 8.10/Mandriva 2009/Mint 6/Fedora 10/OpenSuse 8.11] 9.6MB it links to a tgz tar/gzip file that contains all of the files for both Debian/Ubuntu, etc. (*.deb) & Fedora/Mandriva, etc. (*.rpm), you need but to uncompress the file and install the files that are correct for your system..

Here is the link just in case: http://ts.hercules.com/download/pub/web ... _Linux.tgz

Thanks guys, I mistakenly thought that tarball was just for the control panel. Thanks also for the link to the PPA. :D

Have there been any attempts to get these drivers into the mainline kernel, that you know of? If not, I'd like to follow this up with http://www.linuxdriverproject.org

Cheers!

I have just upgraded my ubuntu to Maverick Meerkat 10.10.
My RMX did not work anymore with modified driver hdjmod 1.28 on the kernel 2.6.35-22.

To people in the same situation, go to https://sites.google.com/site/lightrush/random-1/herculesdjconsoleonkernel2635orubuntumaverick where a new unofficial driver can be downloaded.

Hope it will help!

Hello, Hercules users!

We are pleased to report that in preliminary testing, Hercules controllers speak HID natively, which means you should be able to use them with Mixxx v1.11.0 and up _without_ a driver! (On all OSs, not just Linux.)

v1.11.0 is currently in beta so stop what you're doing here and head on over to the "1.11 beta sneak peek" post. Please report in that thread which Hercules controller you have and whether it shows up in Mixxx or not under Controllers after giving yourself write permissions on HID devices.

Hopefully this will obviate the need for a special driver!

A few Hercules controllers (MP3e2 and Steel at least) do not support the HID protocol, so I created a new controller driver in mixxx for them. This driver has just been merged into Mixxx. So hopefully even people with the really cheap Hercules controller can continue to use it without needing a kernel-mode driver. Please test before 1.11 is released, if you have one of these controllers.

http://mixxx.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=851 has more of the (boring) history, for those interested.
