how to change volume of DeckN

Postby hazamathekenzoh » Wed Feb 20, 2019 10:47 pm

I use mixxx on Ubuntu Studio 18.04.
My sound API in mixxx is ALSA with .asoundrc.

My ideal setting is 2way that external mixer (like Pioneer DJM-600) and internal mixer.

When using internal mixer, I can change master gain at Main window on Mixxx. But when using external mixer,
I can't discover the point of changing eacj Deck's Volume.

Please anyone teach me how to adjust each Deck's volume.

The master gain only affects the master mix, not the decks. I'm confused what you are trying to accomplish. If you're using an external mixer, use the volume faders on the external mixer.
I heard FLAC and I haven't gone back.

When I play at local club, I use external mixer.
A sound engineer at the club request me to power up output level of my laptop.
If I use internal mixer, I can response his request to use Master gain.
I need DeckN Gain or other way..

You should only turn up the gain in Mixxx if the meters in Mixxx are always in the green region. You cannot get more volume out of Mixxx by increasing the gain past clipping. You should adjust the volume of your audio interface before Mixxx. If you're using your onboard audio interface, you can probably control the output level by running alsamixer in a console. However, I highly recommend getting a better audio interface than the one built into your computer. If the mixer has a built-in USB audio interface, use that if it works with Linux. If your audio interface output is still too quiet, turn the channel gain up on the external mixer. Refer to the manual for more details and the wiki for information about specific audio interfaces.

Thanks for your reply.
I have a little complex situation but I could not explain as well..

My Audio I/F is Audio8. It maybe don't have internal mixer so alsamixer could not control gain of audio i/f.

Okay thank you for clarifying. I don't think the NI Audio 8 DJ has a volume control for the outputs; they are always at full volume. So if that is not loud enough, turn up the channel gains on the external mixer.

Can you check the alsamixer PCM gain for your NI Audio 8
Run alsamixer in a console, select the NI Audio 8 board.

I use NI Audio 2 on Linux Ubuntu 16.04, and I do not know why, but in alsamixer the PCM gain of this board is set at 46. If I increase to 100, sound is a lot louder.
